Branco made this design, inspired by his Azorean grandmother's lace, for a series of 12 granite benches, each bearing a quotation by a Portuguese literary figure. The benches have just been covered up for the winter to protect them from snow and ice, but their memory lingers on.

Would you tell me where to find these benches so I may look for them in the spring, when they are uncovered?
Grand merci.
deBeauxOs, they are along boulevard St-Laurent, in le Petit Portugal south of Mont-Royal. I don't remember how far south they extend - perhaps a bit below Duluth?
Sadly idiots have graffitied some of them, but I think they are pretty solid. Think they are being protected more from snow-removal chenillettes than the actual snow and ice.
Don't miss Mary's blog in Portuguese! (scroll down for blogroll).
