Raising Eyebrows: How Much Time to Look Beautifull...

And what constitutes beauty?

Maybe it's the slightly warmer weather, which means that girls and women aren't so muffled up, but I've lately been struck by the care that nearly everybody under the age of 50 lavishes on her eyebrows around here.

I remember that last year springtime brought into evidence the wealth of tatoos that males and females have been bedecking their bodies with. This time what I'm seeing isn't as drastic, but still is striking.

Let it be said here that I have always had bushy eyebrows to which I've never paid much attention . That's my general attitude toward make up and fashion, but now I wonder if maybe I ought to take a long look in the mirror to see if there's something I should do....

No, tell you what: you younger folk take care of that, and I'll worry about stuff that's worth raising your eyebrows about.

The photo, by the way, is of Lauren Hutton, who according to one beauty site, had perfect 1970s eyebrows.

On a whim, I looked up Lauren Hutton. Unusually for that sort of person, she doesn't look lifted at all, and rather wrinkly actually: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lauren_Hutton

It is better to let eyebrows be a bit bushy than to overpluck them, as women over 50 with those very thin brows look odd and aged.

Hmm, I'm not at all a fashionista, but there is no reason mature people should take less care in their appearance if it is important to them.

I agree that we mature ones should care about how we look, but I don't know--eyebrows? Even way back when mine were like wooly bear caterpillars.

I did pluck the midpoint of my Frida Kahloesque unibrow way back when - that has seemed to disappear with middle age. But eliminating that and the faint moustache many if not most dark-haired women are blessed with (in Sicily, it was considered sexy) was more a matter of looking socially acceptable than being looks-obsessed.

Shouldn't we be worrying about law C-31 or something? http://boulericenpd.blogspot.ca/2012/03/c-31un-projet-de-loi-inhumain-et.html
