Saturday Photo: The Beating Heart of Fall
Well, that sounds a bit extravagant, but the gorgeous display of this creeping vine at the moment deserves superlatives. I'm not sure of the name--it's not Virginia creeper--but it has begun to spread from house to house around central Montreal during the last couple of years. It covers houses in green during the summer and turns brilliant reds and magentas beginning in late September.
I've seen it creeping up trees, too, and that might create problems if it gets too exuberant. But at the moment it is providing lovely colour just before the trees burst into flame, metaphorically speaking.
